Jason began his woodworking career in 1993, building furniture in Charlotte , NC . Not yet married to Amy, they mutually decided to not form a company together, so each worked on their on projects. Amy in interior design, Jason building custom furniture. Eventually in 1994, Amy's business was discovering the demand for high-end custom furniture that could not be found at any of the markets. She and Jason put their heads (and dollars) together to form Cross-Hile Interior Design, an interior design and furniture business. Soon, the pieces of furniture turned into custom built-ins, armoires, anything custom, and anything built-in. In that year, their business won five separate home show awards, including the coveted "Best of Show".

In 1995 Charlotte began to become the boom-town that it is today, in the custom home-building industry. Jason realized that he was becoming more interested in the home-building end than in the home-furnishings end of business. Without changing the integrity of the already successful business that they had built, they changed the name to C.H. & Company, LLC, leaving out the "Interior Design".

They worked diligently for three more years, then relocated to Charleston , seeking a more laid-back lifestyle. In other words, back to the beach! Jason quickly took up surfing, they had two beautiful children, and life is good for the family.
